Welcome to Furlong Park School

MVC-037SFurlong Park School for Deaf Children enrols students at key points in the year and provides supportive transition programs for all students entering and moving through the school year levels. Prospective families are invited to make an appointment for a tour of the School and Early Learning Centre by contacting the Office on 9312 3244.

Enrolment eligibility

20160308_131551Furlong Park School for Deaf Children is a Government co-educational primary school with an Early Learning Centre located in Furlong Rd, Sunshine North. The school provides educational programs for children from age 3+ years to the end of Year 6. Enrolment is based on DET eligibility requirements of 40dB (min) permanent bilateral sensorineural hearing loss.

Teaching & Learning

20160308_131508Furlong Park School for Deaf Children provides high quality and individualised educational programs for Deaf children from the North and West of Metropolitan Melbourne and the rural fringe. Class sizes across the school are capped at a maximum of 8 students. Communication used is spoken and written English and Auslan (Australian Sign Language) which addresses individual student needs and is based on a bilingual/bicultural model. The school is staffed by both deaf and hearing, qualified Teachers of the Deaf, Speech Pathologists and experienced support staff. The school follows Positive Behaviour Support discipline management processes.
