It’s cool to be at school

At Furlong Park School for Deaf Children, we encourage all students to be at school as often as possible to ensure they are learning to their full potential. Attendance at school is compulsory for students from Prep to Year 6. Evidence shows that daily school attendance is important for young people to succeed in education and to ensure they don’t fall behind both socially and developmentally. Parents are required to notify the school with an explanation on the first day of absence, otherwise they will be contacted by the school. We strongly encourage families to reconsider if planning a family holiday during the school term, and parents should seek approval from the principal before departing. If your child’s attendance rate is below 80% your child is at risk of meeting their ILP goals, therefore an attendance meeting will be arranged with the Principal to discuss how to improve this percentage. We understand some absences cannot be helped, such as illnesses and appointments. Every school day counts! It is cool to be at school!
